What We Believe

WHAT WE BELIEVE

First Christian Church is affiliated with the independent Christian Churches and Churches of Christ.  We believe the Bible is the inerrant and infallible Word of God.  It is our only rule for faith and practice (2 Timothy 3:16-172 Timothy 3:16-17
English: American Standard Version (1901) - ASV

16 Every scripture inspired of God [is] also profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for instruction which is in righteousness. 17 That the man of God may be complete, furnished completely unto every good work.

22 and he put all things in subjection under his feet, and gave him to be head over all things to the church, 23 which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

20 Neither for these only do I pray, but for them also that believe on me through their word; 21 that they may all be one; even as thou, Father, [art] in me, and I in thee, that they also may be in us: that the world may believe that thou didst send me.

We have no requirements for membership other than those given in the New Testament for becoming a Christian.  These are confessing your faith in Jesus Christ (Romans 10:9-10Romans 10:9-10
English: American Standard Version (1901) - ASV

9 because if thou shalt confess with thy mouth Jesus [as] Lord, and shalt believe in thy heart that God raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved: 10 for with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

We do not claim to be the only Christians, but we are Christians only.  We invite all who are like-minded to join our fellowship as we encourage each other on the road to heaven (Hebrews 10:23-25Hebrews 10:23-25
English: American Standard Version (1901) - ASV

23 let us hold fast the confession of our hope that it waver not; for he is faithful that promised: 24 and let us consider one another to provoke unto love and good works; 25 not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting [one another]; and so much the more, as ye see the day drawing nigh.
